Chalet Desirée

For five people, this was the cheapest accommodation I found online in Grinderwald, and I liked our stay enough to come back. We were a family with three children, and the apartment was renovated and well equipped. The kitchen had a dishwasher and tablets, and there was a washing machine with washing gel in the basement opposite. The internet was good. We also appreciated the view from the windows: my mother would open one in the morning, have coffee, and look out at the street. It's practically in the basement, though the windows face the street. There are three flights of stairs down to the apartment after you cross the road from Grinderwald Terminal; the entrance is on the far side of the road. You can get up the stairs from the station to the road. Picking up the keys in the centre of Grinderwald was inconvenient. I dropped the family at Grinderwald Terminal, then went to the next stop, Grinderwald, for the keys. Alternatively, you can walk back to the bus station and take the 121 bus to Rotheneg station or Grinderwald Terminal. The heating was much too hot, and we couldn't turn it down. There was also a slight mold smell when entering, though it wasn't critical.

We were quite happy with the affordable place, especially as mountaineers arriving late at night. It worked perfectly well for us, and the drop in quality wasn't as dramatic as other people had said. We all made it to the summit after that night. Greetings from Austria.

The ski station is close, and once the construction that was there during my visit is finished, the direct route should be open. It should take 10-15 minutes to get there. Inside, there's a bathroom, two bedrooms, and a living room with a TV. The kitchen has a stove, oven, refrigerator, and extras like a fondue pot. It's a really cool place with a lovely, cozy atmosphere. When I visited, we had to go around the construction near the ski station.

The place is sparsely furnished, and there's not much of a view, unfortunately. Its location is excellent for the Männlichen cable car.
