Hotel Spinne

The best part was heating up in the sauna, then taking a cold plunge beneath the ice tunnel. Really invigorating. The sauna area is textile-free, but you can keep a towel on if you prefer. Lovely hotel, with efficient staff, nice decor, compact but comfortable rooms, and awesome views. The lobby is comfortable and has a wood fire, and the spa is lovely too.

The spa is included in the room price, and it was a highlight: a Finnish-style hot cedar sauna, steam sauna, Alpen-style warm sauna with heated seats, meditation room, ice drench walk-through shower, and a beautiful warm infinity pool outside overlooking the mountains. Massages are available to book for an extra fee. We stayed in the guest house, where the balcony views were stunning. We paid to add breakfast and were glad we did. There was locally baked fresh bread, local cheeses and meats, juices and fruit, plus a chef who makes omelettes. The Espresso Bar was packed and fun every night, and Avocado Bar is just two doors down. Ski and snowboard rental shops, the train, and the lift to Grindelwald-First ski slopes are all within walking distance, and you can buy a lift pass there too. We loved the rooms, service, views, location, spa, and breakfast. I can’t recommend this hotel enough, especially for a winter or ski trip.

Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was so good that the other places we tried in the area didn’t compare. I’m still thinking about the food, and Philipp, our waiter, was awesome. Breakfast was phenomenal too. Every staff member we met was warm, helpful, and seemed to love working there. That positive energy added a lot to the stay. The room was spotless, cozy, and comfortable, and the spa had a sauna, steam room, relaxation spaces, and a heated outdoor infinity pool facing the mountains. Floating there and looking straight at the Eiger is something we won’t forget. The view alone would have made the trip worthwhile. Stepping out onto our balcony to see the Eiger right in front of us felt unreal, like a postcard come to life. We stayed at Hotel Spinne and it completely blew us away. If you’re choosing a place in Grindelwald, book Hotel Spinne. We’ll definitely stay here again whenever we visit.

The pool was so noisy and chaotic that we couldn’t relax, and we wouldn’t choose this hotel for another wellness stay. Children were screaming and playing loudly. At one point, a woman was teaching her child to swim in the pool, which is clearly part of the wellness area. That space just isn’t meant for children. It was a real disappointment because we’d come with friends specifically to enjoy the spa and pool. I’d stayed here before and had a very positive experience, which is why I came back. The rooms are newly renovated and the view is absolutely stunning, and the rest of the stay was very nice overall.
