The wine list is impressive, with pairings that go well with the food, and every course left us delighted. The menu is a refined selection, carefully prepared for flavor and presentation, and the hotel and restaurant are exceptional quality. A must visit for discerning travelers in Gstaad.

The location is fantastic, right by Gstaad train station and close to everything you’d need in the heart of town. But the rooms were mediocre at best, nowhere near worth nearly £800 a night. The staff were rude and unhelpful. Nearly everyone I spoke to seemed passive aggressive and like they hated their jobs. We moved to Ultima Gstaad, where the rooms are extremely luxurious and the staff service is out of this world. I really recommend staying there to anyone reading this. Update: I also noticed while reading these reviews that the owner shares personal information about guests’ stays when they leave bad reviews. I don’t think that’s very professional. The owner seems to get argumentative in response to negative feedback, when in my view the hotel should be fixing its internal issues to reduce those complaints.

The hotel is in a prime spot in one of my favorite towns in Switzerland, maybe even the world, and it’s decent in other ways. But the staff seemed stingy and unwilling to go the extra mile. Don’t stay in summer. There’s no AC, so we had to sleep with the windows open. Our room was 88°F, and with four restaurants downstairs, the choices were to lie awake in the heat or deal with loud people and cigarette smells all night. Our room was also right over the employees’ break area, where staff went to smoke at night, and their smoke came into our room. I asked my travel agent if she could help. She contacted the front desk, and they brought us fans, which was a nice attempt. But when the other room in our party asked for one, the desk said they didn’t have fans for guests. They didn’t know we were together, so I guess my agent’s call and pressure got us fans while the others were treated like ordinary guests. Basically, they lied about having fans. The maids also turned off our fans when they came into the room, which was odd. We paid for same day express laundry, but got our clothes almost 48 hours later, after asking where they were. If you ask how to cool off, be prepared to feel gaslit. What a bummer.

I was disappointed by the treatment at Bernerhof Gstaad. The staff showed little understanding, spoke to us without professionalism, and were unfriendly and unhelpful. When we raised a concern, they didn’t really listen or try to resolve it. For a hotel in such a location, I expected more respect and better service. I can’t recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant stay and good service. I don’t recommend Arabs stay here. The receptionist is awful and a bitch.

We were close to having nowhere to eat with our two kids, so we took a chance on Bernerhof Gstaad. The staff were lovely, and the food was fresh and delicious. The fondue was absolutely perfect, even though I’m a bit picky about it. One child had schnitzel and fries, both fresh and homemade. The next day we tried their Italian restaurant too. The pizzas, tiramisu, and starters, called Alps tapas, were delicious.
