Getting there by car takes some care, with all the bends and narrow roads, though public transport is an option too. Once you arrive, the setting is incredible, high above the surrounding green hills and mountains. This is one of the best places I’ve stayed in Switzerland. The owners were friendly and helpful, the food was good, and my room was spacious and clean.

A quiet spot to read, children’s books, and a terrace for sitting in the warm sun. Everything was clean, and the host was lovely, friendly, and attentive to details. Breakfast was freshly made with care, and very Swiss.

We felt at home here, and it was a pleasure staying with Ruth and Heinz. They’re lovely hosts, and we hope to return someday. The place is in a peaceful Alpine village, with easy parking. Our spotless, comfortable room had its own little terrace with a table, chairs, parasol, and mountain views. The other two main bedrooms have small outdoor terraces too. Guests can use the breakfast room throughout the day. There’s a kettle, coffee machine, and even two small hot plates for making a quick meal. Breakfast had breads, cereal, cheese, jams, and more, with cooked dishes available to order. Ruth’s scrambled eggs were a real treat. It’s a good base for walks. If you stay at least two nights, the visitor card gives you free local public transport. We took the cable car down to Meiringen and the cog railway up to Brünig.

The mountain views are lovely, and there’s a shared play area stocked with toys, games, and puzzles. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the hosts were friendly.
