This place was a lucky find. It’s expensive, but I felt the quality made it good value. The staff were warm, kind, and friendly, and they were lovely with our dog, Alice, even giving her treats. The food was carefully prepared and served with real professionalism.

The staff were friendly and quick to respond. In the shared area, coffee, drinks, and ice cream are available for self-service without a limit. The stairs are very narrow, so be careful not to trip or fall.

We had a pleasant two-night stay and would come back. The rooms are on the small to average side, but have what you need and are nicely presented. Dogs are welcome too, so your other family member can come along. Breakfast was really nice and covers most tastes, including eggs and bacon made as you like.

We came back to the restaurant for my husband's birthday, but this visit was a real letdown. We were seated by the chimney, which wasn't awful, just not very comfortable. I chose the four-course surprise menu for 100sfr because I hoped to try unusual flavors and preparations. The first course was fine, with a few interesting flavors, something like duck terrine, and I think sweet potato with something else. It wasn't memorable. The soup seemed Asian in flavor, perhaps lemongrass, with some kind of muscle, grilled shrimp, and another fish that looked like lobster claw meat but didn't taste like it. It was okay, but nothing special. My main was reh/wild with the usual Swiss sides: red cabbage, chestnuts, pear with preisel berry, brussel sprouts, and I can't remember what else. I expected something more original. If I wanted that standard Swiss meal, I'd have ordered it from the menu, though my husband wanted it and it had to be ordered for two. It tasted fine, but felt like an afterthought, as if the chef had run out of time and served what half the restaurant was having. The soup's lingering taste didn't go with the main at all. The dessert was fine. The homemade ice cream was very good, but the rest wasn't memorable. I think there was panna cotta, though it wasn't as smooth and jiggly as I like. The timing made things worse. My husband's first plate of his main came while I was eating soup, which was fine. Then his second plate arrived while I had nothing for quite a while. He finished his whole entree before mine finally came. His food was disappointing too: Hirsh in dark sauce with spaetzlie, a meal he usually enjoys, but the meat was tough. The plate was all brown and beige, with no vegetables or fruit like pear with preisel berry to add color, just meat and spaetzlie. Very, very disappointing. We won't return or recommend it.
