Hotel Weisses Kreuz

The quick check-in was the best part. Maria at the front desk was so helpful, friendly, and just amazing. We heard her switch between several languages to talk with guests, and she also helped us find somewhere to do laundry. It’s a simple hotel in the middle of stunning Interlaken. We got a surprise balcony, lovely for coffee in the morning and a beer at night. The shower was okay, and the beds were comfortable.

Our family room was very spacious, basically two rooms joined together. The woman at the front desk was really informative, and the location made handling our luggage easy, just 15 steps from the bus stop. Since we bought the Swiss Half Fare card, we got tickets for free bus rides around Interlaken. My sons, aged 10 and 11, also rode free.

The breakfast was the same every day, and the experience in the breakfast hall was poor. Two local waitresses were unfriendly, with no smiles or greetings, and didn’t seem to check whether food had been replenished. They cleared tables with a sulky expression and appeared not to care. There were only a few simple cooked dishes, and even after staying a week, half the food bowls were often empty. Nobody seemed to care in the breakfast hall.

The location is perfect, but the hotel feels old, and the rooms are very dated. Cleaning could have been better, and the towels smelled a little. Water was blocked in both the bathtub and washbasin. There’s no AC. They should renovate, repaint, and freshen the place up.
