The location and atmosphere are still lovely, and I really hope the restaurant can improve. It used to be known for refined local food and beautiful views, but under the new management it falls well short of how it was before. The entrees cost about the same, yet the taste and presentation have taken several steps down. My entrecôte was a fatty cut, and the campuns were greasy. The menu used to be much more extensive, but now half of it is fondue. The desserts were especially disappointing: we tried chocolate mousse, panna cotta, crème brûlée, and an unusual take on kaiserschmarrn, and the textures and flavors were really off. It's sad to see how much has changed.

Its warm hospitality and traditional Swiss atmosphere make it a charming hideaway for nature lovers, hikers, and couples wanting to disconnect and enjoy the calm of the Alps.

Getting there takes some effort: non-residents of the hotel can't drive up, and restaurant guests need to climb a long 1.1 km path at 1,400 meters altitude. Still, it was worth the visit. The location is exceptional, the food was delicious, and the staff handled a busy, sunny Christmas Day efficiently, warmly, and professionally.

The views make this a great hideaway for quality time. It's a lovely restaurant with an exceptionally attentive team. Try the fondue, it's the best in the area!

Over about 10 years of skiing and biking with the boys around Klosters and Davos, we made a tradition of hiking up to Alpenrösli on the last day, then walking or sledding back down to our chalet. It was always the week's highlight, though I broke my ankle sledding the last time. Davos has a wonderful hospital with doctors experienced in bone fractures, and there's a company right next door that makes orthopedic plates and screws. I highly recommend both places ;)
