Hotel Sternen

The restaurant was so popular that local people reserved tables, and I really enjoyed the breakfasts, which were included in the room price. I stayed two nights for work in Niederwangen and chose the hotel because it was close to both there and Bern Hauptbahnhof (Bern Central Station). I walked the Wanderweg through beautiful countryside. The service was excellent. Highly recommended!

The decor felt a little dated, but the rooms were cozy and clean, and the price was budget-friendly. I liked the traditional Swiss hospitality, friendly service, and delicious Swiss food in the restaurant. From Köniz, it’s easy to get to Bern and the surrounding area, which makes this a practical place to stay for business or leisure.

The hotel has plenty of personality, with furniture, paintings, and objects gathered over centuries. Stepping inside felt like entering another era. The staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast was good. My room was clean and well kept, though it had no power plugs beside the bed. The Wi-Fi worked well. With the Bern ticket, Bern is 10-15 minutes away by bus, and Köniz has lots of shops and restaurants and is near the park. Traffic made me keep the windows more closed than I wanted, but once they were shut, the noise stopped bothering me.

I was glad I’d booked only one night. The hotel was expensive, and its location and design made it one of the worst places I’ve stayed. Street noise kept going and made sleep impossible. The room was too warm, with no AC, and traffic outside meant I had to keep the windows closed.
