Trompeterschlössle Hotel

We stayed for two nights in February and March, booking two rooms for my father-in-law's birthday. He loves whiskey, so we chose this “Whiskey hotel,” but there was no whiskey, breakfast, served coffee, or staff on site. We only discovered after arriving that the place was just an Airbnb, despite how the “hotel” had been presented. I sincerely wish we hadn't stayed. The birthday whiskey trip was completely ruined. We were there from Friday to Sunday. On Saturday, the restaurant and bar were closed, even though the website said the bar was open on weekends. We called the staff and got no answer. The Booking dot com listing and confirmation Email said breakfast was available, but none was served, so we had to drive out for breakfast, coffee, and everything else. It made the stay very hectic. At checkout, a hotel staff member finally appeared so we could pay. He said they'd informed my husband there was no breakfast, but my husband had never heard that. I told the staff that our experience was completely different from the advertising. He gave us some money back, which was a nice gesture, but it didn't make up for the trip being ruined. One room smelled strongly of sewage. They gave us another room and fixed the problem, but it took two hours because nobody was on site. The walls were thin and sound carried easily. The rooms themselves are nice, and with bar and breakfast service this could be a pleasant stay. The hotel should clearly state that the bar and restaurant are closed, there's no breakfast, and no staff are on site. If that had been disclosed, we wouldn't have booked. In December 2024, before staying here, we had trouble reaching the hotel by phone and got no replies to our Email inquiries. When we finally reached someone, several different staff members said they'd call or Email us back, but never did. The place looked very nice, but we eventually gave up. This review is from March 2025, after our stay.

We spent a few days here with the family. It's a quiet place, with a good breakfast and lots of outdoor space. Downtown is only about a 10-minute walk away.

Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. The roof is a lovely spot for a summer evening, and it also makes a great place to begin or end a trip around Lake Constance.

The cooking was wonderful and the service excellent. It's a fantastic location, just 1 Min from Germany, and well placed for walks with the dog. Worth a trip!
