Athmos Hotel

The carpets and decor feel dated, and there wasn't even a fridge in the room. I still can't see how this place got four stars. The Italian woman at reception seemed to find a way to charge for everything. Honestly, be careful she doesn't bill you for every word she says.

The breakfast was the worst part for me: every morning of my week there, I saw flies on the food. A staff member also broke a glass bottle in my bathroom and didn't clear it all up. I ended up cutting my foot on the last morning. The room itself was a decent size, and the bathroom was roomy, bright, and had a nice full-size tub. I was traveling alone, so I can't say whether they have larger rooms for bigger groups. Compared with other European hotels I've stayed at, the bed was a good size and comfortable. It's apparently the best option in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the stay was decent, but I'd avoid eating there.

The room was quiet and spacious enough, with excellent bedding and classic furniture in a beautifully decorated space. I loved it. The bathroom was all marble, and there's free private parking at the hotel.

Breakfast was very good, and the rooms were okay. The corridors, though, smelled of damp and wastewater, which was unpleasant. Reception closes at 9 pm, and I wish it stayed open later.
