Hotel Emmental

The rooms were clean, the bar had finger food, and the staff were extremely friendly. There’s a small parking area out front. We ate dinner at the other location, just across the train tracks. The meal was good but a little expensive, though that’s Switzerland. Remember to bring a Swiss AC adapter.

It was handy having the train station just around the corner. My room was big and airy, with large windows, and thanks for the kettle, which most hotels on this trip haven’t had. There’s good shopping nearby, including a little cheese shop a short walk away that I think makes its own cheese. I could sit outside with my own beer, watch life go by, and found the locals friendly. It’s a nice village hotel in a great location, especially handy for backpackers.

The owner kindly walked us to her restaurant, where we found a gorgeous garden setting and outdoor seating. The staff were pleasant, the accommodation was roomy, and the train station was close by. My cousin and I came from the US to Langnau two weeks ago, and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer stay.

It was quiet on the other nights, and the breakfast was good. On Friday and Saturday, a pop-up outdoor bar across the street made it a little noisy. The place itself is quaint, clean and comfortable, and convenient for the train station.
