Hotel Angleterre

The rooms were gorgeous, modern, and beautifully furnished, with thoughtful details and top-quality amenities. Everything felt new and spotless, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the window views were breathtaking. Hotel Angleterre Lausanne sits right on Lake Geneva, with striking views. Watching the sunrise over the water or having an evening aperitif while looking toward the Alps made each moment feel special. Its location also puts you close to Lausanne's attractions, restaurants, and cultural sites. My recent stay here was absolutely exceptional. Thank you, and God bless you and your family 😊

The room was clean but basic and outdated, with little charm. My unusually large bag made the route to it difficult: I had to go down and up a couple of flights of stairs. I didn't realize I needed help on the way up, and I had a pre-dawn train on the way down. The hotel consists of several buildings with a pool in the middle, though I didn't use the facilities. There was no bar, which is a big negative for me when travelling solo, and the restaurant was closed for a private event when I tried to eat there on arrival. I did dine there the following night, and the food and service were definitely at a four-star level. The limited staff interaction at check-in and check-out was professional and friendly. The location is excellent for being by the lake and near the metro. They provide a free metro and bus pass, though it seemed like everything was free anyway. I wouldn't call it a four-star experience, especially next door to five-star Beau-Rivage Palace, where atmosphere and service meet or surpass five-star expectations. If you only need somewhere to sleep at the foot of the lake, and can get a good last-minute rate as I did, I'd recommend it. Otherwise, I'd probably look elsewhere.

Our executive room was quite large and comfortable, especially the bathroom, but the lake view was obstructed because it was in the back-left building. Angleterre has four buildings, including the lobby. Online photos suggested the room would have a balcony, but it didn't, though other rooms in our building did. We heard construction and lawn work starting at 7am, and at checkout we had to manage our bags ourselves because there was no nearby reception. We were warned before arrival that the lobby was being renovated, so we checked in at the sister property one block away. That five-star hotel's porters brought our bags to the room. The location is right on the lakefront, near good restaurants, and convenient for the train. I look forward to returning once the renovation is finished, which they said should be in April 2026, and will specifically request a balcony room.

The hotel seems to be in the middle of a major renovation, including the reception, which was under construction during our stay. I can imagine how elegant it will look when the work is done, and can't wait to return and see the finished result. The staff were one of the highlights. Housekeeping was kind, efficient, and polite. We had a drainage problem in the bathroom, and they sent someone right away when we reported it. The repair staff fixed it quickly and checked that we were comfortable afterward. Their warmth and professionalism made us feel cared for. Our room at Hôtel d’Angleterre was lovely, with tasteful details, a fresh but classic style, warm soft lighting, and a very comfortable bed. It looked recently renovated, and everything seemed thoughtfully prepared. We chose it for its lakeside setting, away from the busy, noisy city center. The peaceful surroundings and calm water, with the Alps in the distance when we woke up, felt almost magical. It was a beautiful, memorable two-night stay, and absolutely worth considering in Ouchy, Lausanne.
