Bellerive Hotel

The lift is just too small, and the rooms and general interior feel a bit outdated. Breakfast wasn't fully ready at 7am, and that happened throughout my stay. I wouldn't have booked this hotel myself if there hadn't been a worksite nearby.

The rooms are spacious, clean, carpeted, and comfy. There's a capsule coffee machine in the room, but unfortunately no refrigerator. The hotel also has a small gym and sauna, and gave us a travel card for public transport, which was really practical for getting around town. It's a cozy hotel in the heart of Lausanne, within walking distance of Lake Geneva. Staff are friendly and welcoming, speak perfect English, and are very helpful. There's a parking lot close by.

Having just lost my passport and belongings in Lausanne, I was in a difficult situation, and the reception service at Hotel Bellerive was deeply disappointing. The lady on duty was cold, dismissive, and unhelpful from the start. When my cash and cards had been stolen, I asked how I could pay the city tax. Instead of helping me find another way, she told me to go back to Lausanne and figure it out. I eventually paid manually with a credit card method she could easily have suggested. I also asked to borrow a mobile charger for a few minutes, but she shrugged and told me to find one outside, even though I was genuinely in need. She didn't tell me about the free Lausanne Transport Card that every guest is entitled to; I only found it in the room manual. There was no phone in the room, which seemed odd for this category of hotel. When I tried to use the reception phone, which wasn't working properly, she sarcastically said, “Just like you would use any normal phone.” The lack of empathy, hospitality, and basic help toward a distressed guest was extremely disappointing. I don't recommend this hotel to international travelers, especially anyone unfamiliar with the local system who might need even minimal support.

The service was exceptional throughout the hotel, especially at the bar, reception, and breakfast, which was delicious. The hotel is beautiful in a traditional city style, and the location is stunning. My room was clean and had everything I needed, though the furnishings felt a little tired. I prefer new, contemporary styling, but the older decor added to the quaint feel. If you can, paying extra for a high-level lake-view room is well worth it. Highly recommended with a lake view.
