Despite having a valid reservation, we weren't accepted because our children were under 10. Online, the hostel calls itself a "family hotel." The staff were unfriendly in their messages, saying, "we don't need you here as a guest". There are surely more welcoming places to stay in Locarno.

The welcome was very warm, the neighborhood quiet, and the bed had a quality mattress. We found the room very comfortable and breakfast delicious. It's well located, near the Casa Rusca museum and bus stops, and Ascona is 10 minutes away. A dream stay, highly recommended.

Our room was number 7, cramped, and had no window. In 30-degree heat, the only way to get air in was through the shutter in the doorway to the other rooms. For arriving by car, finding a free spot to unload is down to luck. There's a supermarket beside the hotel and the pedestrian area is already congested. Centro Castello garage is only a few minutes away and seems secure, but adds 19.90 CHF per day to the room bill. For a short stay, the location is perfect, with the whole city centre walkable and Piazza Grande just minutes away. The landlady is incredibly friendly, as people often mention, and breakfast in the lovely courtyard was small but excellent, with fresh products.
