Pensione Olanda

Pensione Olanda sits high on the hill above Locarno, with amazing views from our room and the terrace. The bus stops right outside the front door, which makes getting around easy, and guests receive a Ticino Ticket for free bus and local train travel. Our host Davide was warm and welcoming, with lots of helpful ideas for things to see and do around Locarno. We spent three delightful days there. The breakfast was amazing: David prepares everything with care, and much of it is homemade. There was a better buffet selection than at many hotels, and sitting on the terrace for breakfast was lovely when the weather was good. We also had dinner there one night, and it was delicious and very reasonably priced.

The breakfast had plenty to pick from, and those banana pancakes were so good. I really enjoyed my two nights here. The rooms feel peaceful and are decorated beautifully, and outside there’s a lovely lake view among all the plants and fruit Davide is growing. Dear Davide, what you’ve made here feels beautiful, calm, and wholesome. I’d love to return one day. G’day and cheerio!

The bed was fantastic, we hardly ever sleep that well. We also loved having the private bathroom in the back house, and the terrace view was beautiful. It gave us the quiet we needed, and the whole place felt charming, romantic, and thoughtfully put together. Davide was kind and helpful, and showed me around the plants he’d put in. You can tell how much care he gives the place. I hope it all grows the way he imagines and that the business keeps flourishing. We saw his trimmed bamboo idea just outside the room, and I hope next time we get to see how the garden has grown. It was a short stay at Pensione Olanda, but such a lovely one. Andrea was so sweet and helpful, and breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from. The house was spotless, and our room with a shower made a great base for our girls' trip to Locarno. We couldn't have picked better. The little patio had stunning views of the mountains and lake. Thank you!
