Radisson Blu Hotel, Lucerne

We only stayed one day, but really enjoyed it. The rooms are standard, though very functional, with a well-designed shower and lighting, storage cabinets, coffee machines, and a hanger and drying rack. The breakfast buffet was a real surprise, probably the best of the five hotels we stayed at in Switzerland, especially if you’re from America. Omelets are included in the buffet and can be ordered.

The people made the difference here. Adeline was wonderful at breakfast, so kind, polite, and attentive, and somehow handled everything with grace while making guests feel cared for. Simon was friendly and attentive at dinner, and the reception team were welcoming and always ready to help. They made check-in and check-out easy and helped with questions and requests. My room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, and the housekeeping team clearly took pride in their work. The food was delicious, too. I had a wonderful stay at the Radisson Blu, with service that exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

The location is convenient, right by the train station, with an easy and safe walk to the main attractions. It’s a little on the edge of the city center, which makes it quiet, though that may not suit everyone. The hotel offers transport options, but we didn’t need them. Staff were consistently kind, attentive, and helpful, and the modern lounge made a good first impression. We booked a premium room, spacious by European standards, with a clean, modern room and bathroom, a comfortable bed, quality linens, and a reasonably sized LED TV. Everything felt well maintained. The welcome note with fruit and macarons was a thoughtful touch. The gym was clean and in good condition, with all the standard machines, so it was easy to keep up with workouts. A nice mix of comfort, convenience, and hospitality. I’d recommend it for business or leisure.

I missed my train because of the reception staff, and management should look into what happened. I checked out on 28th Dec at 11 25 am, so it should be possible to verify this on the reception footage. I asked to check out quickly because I had a train to catch, but the Asian lady at reception said it was not her problem and kept explaining tour details for 15-20 minutes. People were waiting in line while she focused on selling Lucerne tours as if nobody had anywhere to be. I didn’t get her name. It was a pity, and I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I found the service rude and unprofessional. I had a similar problem at check-in, when I was made to wait an hour for my room while other guests were allowed to check in and given rooms. I’ve stayed at Radisson hotels in different countries, and this was my worst experience. Holiday inn and other chains offer express check-in and check-out, but Radisson doesn’t seem to care. Please train the staff to be customer-friendly and teach basic social etiquette, or guests won’t come back. There should also be a separate tour or local guide information desk, as is normal at four- and five-star hotels.
