La Tortuga

We stayed at la tortuga for two days, August 9-11, 2017, our first B&B experience, and really loved it. The peaceful location had lovely views of the hills and lake from our room, which was clean and comfortable. The towels and linen were especially clean too. Catherine was such a sweet and helpful host. She offered to pick us up from the station at night, took us to the bus stand both days, and even ran through the rain from her car when we were about to get on the wrong bus, to guide us to the right one. We’ll always remember her help. Her husband was a kind gentleman as well. They’re a lovely, hospitable family, and they made our stay comfortable and memorable. We’d love to visit them again.

It feels more like an Airbnb than a hotel, with comfortable, clean rooms and very hospitable hosts. Katherine asked us the day before what we’d like and when for breakfast, then prepared a lovely meal the next morning. The living room and balcony have nice views too. Meggan is less than a 15-minute drive from Lucerne old town. I’d come back if I visit Lucerne again.

Catherine was especially wonderful and respectful. The hotel itself is beautiful and quiet, with a lovely view of the lake.
