Hotel Meiringen

We had a balcony looking out over the train station, the mountains and even a waterfall. The room and bathroom were both spacious, and the bed was soft. We could also raise the head of the mattress with the bed frame. Everything was perfect!

After a long day on the Via Alpina, I got a really restful night here and woke up ready for the next stretch. The rooms felt modern and clean, and despite being beside the road, ours was very quiet thanks to double or triple glazing. The building has an unusual shape and sits right by the train station in the middle of town. It turned out to be a surprisingly good little hotel. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide buffet selection and even eggs stamped with the Swiss flag.

We spent a lovely week in Meiringen and are already planning to return to Hotel Meiringen. The guest card came in handy, with free gondola rides in the area and discounts at other attractions. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made us feel welcome. Our spacious, very clean room had a balcony with a fantastic mountain view. We had half-board and enjoyed every meal at the hotel's fine dining restaurant and pizzeria. There were great vegetarian options too. It's a great base for exploring the Alps, with easy connections for getting around. The town doesn't feel too touristy, but everything is close by.

The guest card included useful discounts and free bus service to many attractions and restaurants. Groceries, shops and transport were all close by, too. Another plus for us was that we speak English and most of the staff spoke it very well. When we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming. Our room was spotless, with two large windows, comfortable chairs and a fan. The bed was comfortable as well. We were on half-board and got a menu to order from. We had pizza and salad, and the food was delicious. The portions were so big that we each saved half a pizza for lunch the next day. Dessert was terrific too. There was also a beautiful fine dining area. We highly recommend this hotel.
