The family makes you feel so welcome, and breakfast is a lively affair in the open kitchen. You can sit with people from all sorts of backgrounds at the big antique table, or find a quiet corner on your own. With trees, plants and flowers all around, it’s a peaceful place for an overnight stop or even a few days or weeks away. Staying in this Chateau feels like a trip back in time, with its distinctive regional Swiss-French architecture and atmosphere. It’s a landmark Fribourg can be proud of.

The owners were unpleasant when we tried to explain what was wrong. They said, “we don't want to discuss,” and told us they’d had plenty of guests and didn’t care about our feedback. The room also faced the street and car park instead of the garden promised in the booking, and there were no blinds. Daylight woke us at dawn, while a streetlight shone brightly into the room all night. We’d booked a double bed but got three single beds instead. Very bad experience, I do not recommend this place.

A charming, stylish and romantic historic place, with lovely hosts and a wonderful breakfast. It’s one of those stays that makes you want to smile and stay longer. I’d love to come back.

The breakfast was delicious, and the people were lovely. It’s a stunning place, with a great room for yoga or meetings.
