La Villa

We came for a meal after someone recommended the place, though we didn't stay at the hotel. The decor is lovely and the venue looked just right, with a very warm welcome at first. Then the service fell apart. Mistakes happen, but saying “my bad” and leaving the rest of the service so poor wasn't acceptable. The food was very disappointing too. I wish I'd taken a photo of the overcooked lasagne, which cost CHF 32. The perch and steak were underwhelming, and the prices felt excessive for food and service of that standard. We can't recommend it and won't be back. Maybe you'll have better luck.

This is my favorite restaurant around here. The food is amazing, and the service couldn't be better. They make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. I’m always happy to come back to this charming place. Love it.

The hotel and its setting are lovely, but poor check-in and breakfast service really spoiled my experience. We were first shown to room 22, then told about ten minutes later that there'd been a booking error and we had to move. They left us waiting on the second-floor stairs and asked for our passports or ID there. We were given room 21 next door, actually a nicer corner room with a great view, but no explanation or apology. The welcome drink in the lovely bar was a nice touch, and the coffee and service there were excellent. We didn't try the restaurant because we had an evening engagement in Aigle. Breakfast was included, and we sat down around 9:30, with service running until 10. There were only about five tables being served. We liked the served breakfast instead of a buffet, and the food itself was excellent, but the waiter, though nice, seemed overwhelmed. It took almost ten minutes to get our coffee order, and the first plate had two pieces of fruit and one yoghurt, with meat, cheese, and just two small pieces of bread. More bread and jam took 15 minutes, and the boiled eggs took even longer. There were glasses on the table but no water or juice until we asked. Other guests we spoke with felt the same. We like a slow, relaxed Sunday breakfast, but this was ridiculous. Sort it out, La Villa, and it'd be a five-star stay.

We were invited to La Villa last night, and it was a quiet disappointment. The staff came across as unprofessional and insulting. The food was cold, and the dessert presentation fell short of what we expected.
