Hôtel de la Couronne

The bed was the one disappointment. I booked a superior room expecting a queen bed, but got two singles pushed together, which made sleeping in the middle uncomfortable. Otherwise, the hotel is right in the heart of Morges, close to restaurants and other amenities. Room service was attentive and thoughtful, and breakfast was good value.

The bathroom being outside the room wasn't very convenient, and the curtain didn't keep the water in well. There wasn't a hotel parking space of its own, though there was a parking area nearby. The hotel is close to the shopping street, and our room was large, clean, and furnished comfortably. Breakfast was good, though we weren't very happy with the choice. We'd asked for a baby bed, which was ready when we arrived along with a nice bag for the baby. That was a lovely touch, thanks.

It was a basic hotel in a very central spot, and the price probably reflects the drawbacks. There was no air conditioning, and the room felt stuffy. With the windows open, it was noisy: the market just outside was being set up from 06:00. I didn't sleep well. Breakfast was OK, and the staff I spoke with were friendly and helpful enough. I wouldn't stay again.

The heat made the room unbearable. I visited in mid-July during the heatwave across Europe, and there was no air conditioning or ceiling fan. They gave me a portable fan, then another after I asked for a solution, but even with two it was still hard to stay in the room, day or night. I come from a desert, one of the hottest places on earth, and even I struggled with it. Without that problem, I would have given four stars. The hotel is close to the train station and Lake Geneva, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast had lots of dairy and fruit, the Wi-Fi was decent, and the rooms were spacious, with a kettle for making coffee. It was a bit costly: I paid 555 euros plus a 12-euro city tax for two rooms for two nights. I didn't think that kind of city tax was common in Switzerland, only France. The main doors lock at 10:30pm, but the staff give you a code to get through the gate.
