Hotel La Longeraie

A good spot for a night or two, with plenty of parking. I found it very quiet, with a nice garden and old trees.

The room looked impressive at first, with plenty of space, a very large bed, refreshments in the fridge, and a nice coffee pod machine. But some odd choices let it down. The big windows had no latches, so I couldn't leave them open at night, even on the first floor, because anyone could have walked in from the flat roof outside. A freestanding lamp wasn't plugged in and there was no socket for it. The coffee machine wasn't plugged in either, with no nearby outlet, though it could have been set up on the desk instead. The shower holder was only halfway along the long side of the bath, so I had to hold the shower head. And the cheap clip-on toilet seat was one of the worst ideas I've seen in a while. Service was excellent at reception and in the onside Restaurant, and we appreciated that the team spoke English. Remi looked after us really well in the restaurant, where the food was superb and very reasonably priced for what we had.

A very nice and suitable place, with plenty of parking. It's outside the downtown area, and the staff were very kind and helpful.

The rooms were fairly large compared with some European hotels I've stayed in, though the bathroom was tiny. The shower was 3' X 3', so stepping out meant bumping into the sink or toilet. I generally enjoyed the stay: the desk staff were helpful, the restaurant staff very pleasant, and the food was good despite a somewhat limited menu.
