The train station is an easy walk, and I used it to visit the Roman ruins at Avenches. From the hotel, it’s also just a short walk to a Coop grocery store. The location inside Murten’s old city walls was the highlight for me, and I’d probably stay here again if I return. The place was very clean and breakfast was good. My room was the second smallest of the trip, though, while this was the most expensive stay on my 10 day trip through Switzerland. It felt pricey even by Swiss standards. I didn’t see many other hotel options around Murten, and my Rick Steves guide book recommended this one.

I’m 80, and the shower scared me. My foot slipped every time I used it. It needs a bathmat or a rough-textured repaint. The mat outside the shower slid around too.

The room and bathroom were both spacious, and there’s a terrific restaurant on the back terrace with lake views. Breakfast was great too. Everything was wonderful. I’ll always stay here when I come back!

Breakfast had a great range of food and drinks, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room with a splendid view of Murten lake. The very old hotels Murten Hof and Krone have been merged, with beautiful design and decor inside. We had a very good stay. If you’re staying in the marvellous city of Murten, don’t hesitate to book here.
