The house is well kept, and the kitchen has everything we needed. We booked a two-bedroom apartment, but it had just one bathroom. Since there were only three of us and we were family, that didn’t bother us much. The owner was very kind, though he doesn’t speak English. Villa 33 is close to the market place yet in a quiet area, with a mesmerizing view of Neuchatel lake. The main drawback is the steep climb up many steps to reach the house, so it’s best if you’re carrying light luggage. For public transport, get off at Neuchatel station and take the funicular to University bus stop. From there, take bus 101 and get off at saars 55 bus stop, where you’ll find the entrance to Villa 33.

The owners were very kind and accommodating, and the price felt fair for this part of the country. The apartment was incredibly quiet, not a sound. It was spacious and comfortable, with top-notch Swiss-quality equipment, including the TV and internet. Cooking and eating in were easy, since basics like sugar, salt, oil, and vinegar were already there, along with a Miele dishwasher. I stayed five days on a business trip and loved the place. In winter I didn’t get much daylight or much use of the spectacular terrace, but I did get to see the gorgeous sunrise over the lake. I’ve rarely had such a nice stay. Kudos to the owners.

The lake views are stunning, and the kitchens had more equipment than my own home. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the accommodation and hosts suited my work stay perfectly. A holiday would work just as well. I spent eight weeks here in three different apartments in 2017 and can’t recommend it enough. Many thanks to Andre and Marie-rose.

The bus stop is right at the gate, and you get a free ticket for buses and trolleys for every day of your visit to Neuchatel, which is really convenient. The apartments are lovely, with a spectacular view, and the owners are such gentle, kind people. They were there for anything I might need. I’ll definitely visit again.
