Neuchatel City Hotel

The balcony and its incredible view were the best part of my stay. It was a lovely, peaceful little hotel, and the view felt magical at both sunrise and sunset. I enjoyed having a private spot to sip coffee quietly or unwind in the evening with a glass of wine. My room was cozy, clean, and thoughtfully arranged. The hotel had a warm, welcoming feel, and the staff were friendly and attentive without intruding. For a quiet retreat with beautiful views and a touch of local charm, it’s a perfect choice.

We had a terrible stay, with bad rooms, a poor breakfast, and awful customer service. People in our entourage found bedbugs in their room, were bitten, and later found more in their suitcases when unpacking at home. When we raised the issue, the manager accused our entourage of lying. After our reviews on booking, they refused to cooperate in any way. The way this was handled was horrible and shameful. I’ll never return, and it’s ruining a wonderful Neuchâtel experience. Below is the horrible message from the hotel manager, saying he’ll put us on a blacklist.

It’s a shame, because the location is good, close to both the train station and the lake. But the property feels shabby, dark, and worn out, like the owner has lost interest in it, and the service fits that mood. I arrived at 14:30 with my two kids and was told, in a frigid tone, “Check-in is at 4 pm. This is how it is.” Seriously, 4 pm? Good to know where not to stay in Neuchatel.

We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in a perfect location, and our double superior room was quite spacious, with a balcony and even a minibar included. The staff were friendly and the price was great. For people who want more comfort, you need to spend more; the price has to be taken into account.
