Hotel Amaris

During my 14-day office trip to Olten, I found the staff consistently helpful and supportive. The station is close by, and lots of useful places are within about a 50-meter walk, including food outlets, grocery stores, ATMs, and the SBB office. It was a wonderful stay.

Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were really friendly. There are also two good restaurants nearby with reasonable prices. The hotel itself is small and fairly basic, and rooms facing the railway station can get noisy, but it’s very close to the station.

The heat made this a miserable stay for my family. Our 17-month-old couldn’t sleep properly for two nights because the room was so warm and humid. The table fan they gave us wasn’t much help, and the single lift wasn’t working properly either. There were no facilities to speak of, the rooms were very poor for the price, and the reception staff were rude and uncooperative. Not family or baby friendly. I’d give zero stars if I could.

I got upgraded to a lovely, spacious room with a good-sized bathroom. The air conditioning was strong, and even though the hotel is close to the station, the room was quiet. I didn’t eat breakfast there, though the selection looked good.
