The food is the reason to stay here. It was one of our more expensive stops, but insanely good, the best meal of our tour. They say they had Michelin in 2018, and honestly, they should still have it. Crazy delicious, and such a lovely stay. Marlene was a wonderful host too. When our luggage went to the wrong place, she drove to collect it for us.
The food was the highlight by far, easily the best we had on the TMB. I'd come back to Hotel Alpina for the dining alone. It's a charming, quaint hotel, with a sitting area looking over the valley. The views were stunning even on a cloudy day. As a family-run place, it feels cared for in every detail. Marlene greeted us in the garden after a long day of trekking and treated us with real kindness and compassion the whole time. I'd absolutely return.
It's an easy walk to the lake, and we'd definitely include this stop on the TMB again. The dinner was impressive, and the breakfast was just as good, which can be hard to find. The hosts were my favorite part, though. This multi-generational establishment stood out for its service, food, care, and kindness, surpassing most places we've stayed.
The location is unbeatable, and the owners are so kind and welcoming. We spent one night here on our TMB trek and had the best experience. The food was outstanding. What a lovely place!
The couple who run this place took care of every need. She was an excellent host, and he is a classically trained chef. Don't miss dinner. It was such a lovely stay, and I highly recommend it.
