The hotel’s location and views are incredible, and it’s 25 min to the ski resort. The staff were very kind, and the restaurant food and included breakfast were both delicious. Awesome place if you want somewhere self contained, outside of town. Highly recommend.

The food was great, and the pizza was great too. We had an interesting stay, with good staff who even picked us up for free from the previous train station when snow blocked the path from our station. They drove us back as well the next day. A few things could be updated. The rooms could use ventilation, since the air gets stuffy quickly in winter, especially with the bunk beds. The radiator was only half warm because there was air in it on the top floor, and it was noisy. Some things feel due for modernization, but they work okay as they are.

We stayed at Hotel Bernina Hospiz in both summer and winter, and the scenery felt like two different worlds. Snowy, postcard-like landscapes in winter gave way to green mountains and a bright blue lake in summer. The location and views are stunning, and the peaceful mountain feel is lovely. Travelers have found a safe haven here since the 19th century, when crossing the Bernina Pass was more about survival than sightseeing. Now it’s all about the views, though it still feels a bit like stopping as an old-time traveler for hot soup, or a cold beer in the summer sun. 😊 (instagram --> michaelnae)
