The first room was impossible to rest in because it smelled of sewage. It was dusty and dirty enough that my family and I couldn't sleep because of our allergies, and we later felt unwell from all the dust. After I asked the receptionist to move us, the replacement room was dirty and dusty too, and I had to kill several insects there. From arrival, the receptionist wasn't very welcoming, and nobody told me I could request a free travel pass or explained the hotel facilities, including breakfast. The Wi-Fi also had no password. A very disappointing stay.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the rooms were spacious, with comfortable beds and good daily cleaning. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices, a coffee machine, and eggs you could cook yourself. The hotel was clean and in a quiet spot, with easy connections to Basel city center. The bus stop is two minutes away, and the train and tram stations are about a seven-minute walk.

The room had a horrible smell by nighttime, and the other room my family was sharing had a pillow with what looked like unwashed blood stains. In our room, the air conditioning began leaking after about half an hour. Then, while we were getting ready, an insect came out of the sheet. Looking closer, we found two more spiders by the window and in a corner, along with hard bits of food and plenty of other stuff on the sheet that probably wasn't food. It looked fine at first, but this was truly awful.

We've stayed in plenty of Ibis Budget hotels, and this one was below standard. The toilets smelled like ashtrays, and there was chewing gum on the bed. The beds sagged, and parking was 14 euros?!

A nice, simple place to stay in Basel. It felt safe and comfortable, and the price was affordable.
