A wonderful building in beautiful surroundings, but our stay was horrible because there seemed to be no interest in looking after guests. To be clear, we knew this wasn’t a serviced property and were fine with that. The lift was out when we arrived at 8pm, with no advance warning, and stayed broken for all three days. We had six pieces of luggage and had to carry them up three floors on an external staircase in 0-degree weather, then use those stairs every day with our 4-year-old son. We contacted management through the website, since the hotel had no employees, and were told the lift couldn’t be fixed during the festive season. Someone was promised to help us at departure, but nobody came, so we carried all our bags back down ourselves. The hotel’s reply below is false. I have their email saying the lift was broken and couldn’t be repaired because of the holiday season. The room was very clean when we arrived, but the only service offered was rubbish removal. There was no cleaning or other service for the three days. The restaurant was closed, though that wasn’t mentioned on the reservation or website, and our suite didn’t even have a kettle to make tea, coffee, or soup in the 0-degree weather. Management said through the website they’d bring one, but nobody did. The shower felt dangerous because the inside was extremely slippery and there was no anti-slip mat, bathmat outside, or handle. The bathroom heater for drying towels didn’t work either, so after an evening shower in winter, the towels were still soaking wet in the morning. They also weren’t changed during our three-day stay.

The room was large and spotless, with an awe-inspiring view. The bed was extremely comfortable, and its controls let us raise or lower the head and feet to find a comfortable position. I also liked the spacious, artistic sink and the bidet. The beautiful setting and spectacular views of Walensee and the mountains made this a memorable adventure, and the good parts outweighed the uncomfortable ones. We wish the owner well. We arrived early in the evening exhausted, with a lot of luggage. My son and I were meeting relatives for the first time, so this was an important trip, and we weren’t sure about leaving our bags in the car in an unfamiliar area. The elevator was out of service for safety reasons, and no one was around to contact. I’m handicapped and couldn’t carry the luggage to our third-floor room. The winding stairs were steep, but wide, with good hand grips, which helped us make it up. There was another small flight inside the room entrance, and by the time we got to the room, I felt I wouldn’t be able to walk again for a long while. I was thirsty and had expected cold water, wine, or fruit based on the reservation ad. There was nothing to drink, just two glasses and two chocolate mints. I used one glass for water from the sink, which tasted delicious, as Swiss water is marvelous. There was no small refrigerator, and the restaurant was closed, so we admired the view from the balcony and fell asleep. The next morning I contacted the owner. She was gracious and explained the restaurant had closed permanently after a death in the family, and that the elevator was closed for safety reasons. She offered to bring hot coffee and buttered pretzels in the morning, and was lovely. She said we should have told her I was handicapped and she would have arranged another room. That was kind, but I usually don’t tell people about my handicap in advance. I check the facility information before booking instead. A coffee pot in the room would be a good idea, so guests could enjoy a drink while taking in that perfect view. There are other places to eat, so the restaurant closure can be worked around. We showed up unexpectedly quite late and needed a friendly spot for a quick dinner. They were super welcoming and didn’t disappoint. The kitchen was almost closed for the night, but they quickly made us some fantastic crepes. You could tell the chef had taken care with the food even at that hour. Highly recommended 👌

We were traveling with our 6-month-old and needed hot water to make bottles, but there was no kettle in our room. I asked the manager if we could get some from the kitchen or another room that had kettles. She said that wasn’t possible and wasn’t helpful. For a family-run hotel, that’s unacceptable. We travel a lot and have never had an experience like it. I wouldn’t recommend staying there.

We had a fantastic three days at Hotel Rössli in January with friends. The slopes were just two minutes away, with great quality and a large, good network of runs. The hotel’s location was very good and the view beautiful. The staff did their job perfectly, the service was unbelievable, and the food was delicious. Thank you!!!
