Restaurant Hole in one

The salad buffet came before every lunch and dinner, and there was always plenty to eat, generally of good quality. There were about 25 male loggers staying there for two weeks. The staff were friendly and helpful. I’d give it four stars: very good, just not exceptional. I can’t say whether it was worth the price since it was paid for and I don’t know what it cost. Seems like a very decent place.

Don’t eat there, Denner is better. The camping beside it is nice, though.

We were staying at the adjoining campsite and decided to treat ourselves, despite the steep Swiss prices. There weren’t many diners. We ordered two similar dishes, one with “noodle” and the other with “Salzkartoffen,” which seemed simple enough. After about an hour and a glass of questionable white wine, we were getting hungry and annoyed. I would’ve left, but my wife is more patient than me. They said they’d run out of “Salted Potato.” We suspect there was a bigger problem, perhaps missing or incompetent kitchen staff, but don’t know. Eventually food arrived, more like motorway food than anything enjoyable. It did the job, just barely. The waiter said the manager offered us coffee, but we declined and paid, minus the glass of wine and a bottle of water. Maybe it was an unfortunate one-off, but based on our experience, we’d say avoid.

The rooms are simple and good, the location is nice in the middle of the valley, and the food was good too. But the waiter/reception staff made for a really unpleasant stay. He said he was busy and tired. We understood and waited patiently, but that didn’t help. We regretted making the reservation. We later visited other places and nice hotels without anything like this happening again. It was ridiculous, and such poor service is a shame for a place with a good location.
