Hotel Weisshorn

A lovely room with a gorgeous view, in a great location, and the breakfast was great too. The hotel restaurant gets busy with local people. Nearby, there’s a Wood village about 700m away, with authentic Swiss-style houses. There are lots of bike tracks around and a camping place nearby. Definitely worth going.

The owners were very friendly, the room was fine, and dinner at the restaurant was okay. Breakfast was a real disappointment, though. The bread was almost gone, and the cheese and ham looked like leftovers from days earlier. There was one cold boiled egg. I don’t know why earlier reviews called breakfast fresh and great, because ours wasn’t. When we went to pay, the breakfast woman charged us twice for a drink. We pointed out the mistake, and she gave us an angry look and seemed unhappy about giving us the change. It’s a shame that such rude, lousy staff can spoil a stay for the owners. They should know about this woman, who handled the bill. We don’t trust her, and we won’t be back.

After a long day trekking, we stopped here for dinner on our way to the next hotel because it was close to the road. We had trouble communicating with the staff, who didn’t speak English, and our questions weren’t answered properly. Maybe it was a language issue. The menu listed a price for “fondue per two people” but didn’t say it was per person. We were surprised when the bill came and the price turned out to be per person, making it double for us. The fondue wasn’t good, the meat didn’t seem very fresh or high quality, and the staff were unfriendly from the moment we came in.

I stayed there from July 25 to July 28, 2028. The Booking.com bill was $554, then I got another hotel bill from HOTEL WEISSHORN on July 28, 2024, for $664.27. I tried to dispute it, but after 180 days Visa wouldn’t credit it back. I say this hotel is a scammer. Always check your bill for double charges. Especially Switzerland are known for scamming tourists.
