The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and in impeccable condition. The hair dryer, though, started smoking and stopped working almost right away, which was a problem. This is a family-run inn in a detached house, not an apartment hotel. You stay in the family's spare room, with their own room next door, and share the living room with them if you have dinner there. The wife is the main host, and everyone seems to enjoy chatting, so it's a distinctive setup for guests who like talking with people. It may not work for someone who prefers less conversation or expects a standard apartment hotel. Renens VD station is quite far away. I'd suggest taking a bus from Lausanne station.

We booked the first-floor room through Expedia for three nights, but 24 hours before arrival they switched us to an attic room. We couldn't reach the property to ask why. Expedia emailed them asking them to honor the booking, and we eventually got the room we'd reserved and paid for in advance. We're retired and frequent Expedia Gold VIP travelers, and we'd never come across a place this bad. There is just one standard room on the first floor, while the other two are in the attic. The property is isolated from the center and shopping areas, hard to find, and has no signs. When we arrived, the welcome was very rude. We were given a list of rules: take off shoes at the entrance, don't eat in the room, don't drink in the room. It felt like being in a museum. We paid the city tax in cash and got no receipt. The family was not welcoming at all. My opinion is that she's in the wrong business. Expedia shouldn't work with this company, and I'm going to contact them. Avoid it. Gabriel - Montreal - Canada

Kelly gave us a lovely, welcoming greeting in a beautifully decorated house. The room was well maintained, though navigation didn't make the place easy to find. The organic coffee wasn't really to our taste, but it's a great place to stay.

We contacted the booking site to sort things out, cancel without a penalty, and report the host's behavior. They responded right away, canceled the reservation free of charge, and recorded a complaint about her conduct. At the door, the host gave us a nasty look and demanded our ID and cash for the tourist tax, even though we'd already paid it online through the booking site. We refused because charging twice is illegal. She got unpleasant quickly and threatened to cancel if we weren't happy with her welcome and terms, even though canceling ourselves would have cost us the full booking amount. She kept speaking rudely and provocatively. Then her husband arrived and said we wouldn't be sleeping there and wouldn't get a refund. Very strange. The host is extremely unpleasant and speaks rudely to people. I strongly advise against booking here. It's a complete rip-off. Run away!
