At Hotel Schiff am Rhein, everything was very clean and quiet, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The food was excellent too. The rooms could use some improvement, but I had a very pleasant stay.

The food was really nice, well presented, and the staff were friendly. I preferred the non-smoking section, but smoking is allowed there too. We ended up next to chain smokers, which put a damper on the great food and wine. I thought having a smoke-free section was a great idea, so that was disappointing.

I only stopped by the cafe. The service had a good balance, attentive without hovering, and was well organised. The espresso and Late Machiato were up to good Swiss standards. No issues, and the washroom was clean and presentable.

I tried parsley root soup, something I hadn't even thought of making with a herbal root before, and it was delicious. I paired it with a local pinot blanc from Marsen. I think that's a village nearby, if I heard the name correctly.

It's right by the Rhein river in the Altstadt on the Swiss side of Rheinfelden, right on the Germany-Swiss border. There are lots of restaurants and shops around, and it's easy to get to public transportation in both countries.
