The place looks nothing like its online photos. The entrance was filthy when we arrived, with cigarette butts overflowing from a broken ashtray, rubbish on the ground, and faded, stained carpet leading inside. The lobby carpet was worn and dirty too, and the lounge advertised as open was closed. Our hearts sank as soon as we saw it. The room had cigarette burns on the bed and walls, stained walls, ripped and marked carpet, missing or nonworking devices, and clumps of hair behind the door. The in-room phone didn’t work at first, though it was eventually fixed. The bathroom sink and shower drains were clogged, and the shower backed up enough to flood the bathroom. Sound insulation was extremely poor, so we heard everything outside, especially traffic. We were given only one manual key per room. The Sleep Number bed remote showed an error, and a cracked electrical outlet in the desk actually sparked when touched. We complained several times. One or two things were addressed, but we were told most problems couldn’t be fixed. The staff were welcoming and helpful, breakfast was adequate, and the rooms were a decent size despite everything. The location is desirable, just blocks from the lake and old city. Still, the property is in serious disrepair. The owners should be maintaining it, especially in such a lux city.

The decor looked like it was from the 50s, and the carpet seemed even older. From 6am, there was nonstop noise from hotel workers shouting, doors slamming, and traffic outside. The room swung between too hot and too cold, and the old-style heater made it hard to control the temperature. Breakfast and the location were both OK.

The breakfast was amazing, and the hotel had plenty of amenities and a good setup for welcoming guests. Reception was very good, with fruit on the desk, and the staff were great in every way. The location was great too. This is definitely my favorite hotel for my next visit to Zürich.

We expected more from a four-star hotel in what they call the heart of Switzerland. The whole experience was terrible. The staff were rude and not courteous, and the hospitality was a zero. Breakfast was pathetic, with almost no choices for vegetarians, and even those options weren’t edible. They didn’t provide water, even in a suite, and room cleaning was done at 9am according to their schedule whether we were ready or not. We’re tourists in a new city and expected some warmth and basic hospitality. I’d urge travelers to check carefully before booking.

The location is good, but the rest was a dump. I was shocked it had good reviews. No valet, and there was one useless person behind the desk. The smelly rooms looked like a youth hostel, and the curtain covered only half the window. When the sun came up, so did you. Avoid this place.
