Hotel Mozart Rorschach

The rooms were really warm, and the decor had a bit of a 90s feel. Breakfast starts at 7, but at that time they were busy clearing things and rinsing machines rather than serving guests.

The meals at the café were the best food we had in Rorschach, both lunch and dinner were delicious. Breakfast was lovely to look at and tasted just as good. The hotel may be dated, as other reviews have said, but it was clean and charming, and the food and service are why we'd come back. Everyone treated us kindly and put up with our mostly speaking English. The location on Lake Konstance was wonderful. Our room was too small, though the hotel was sold out so we couldn't ask for a larger one. Next time we'll request one. It was also very hot when we arrived, and the two pillows in the room were very thin. We asked Sarah at the front desk, who brought us extra pillows and a fan, which made us comfortable.

The room was nice, and the location was good. The gentleman who checked us in was very pleasant. Breakfast the next morning was rougher: nobody seemed particularly interested in making it a good experience, and someone told us our daughter was making a mess that they'd have to clean up. It's a good place in some ways, but if you're traveling with kids, you might want to avoid it.

The noise from the nearby train tracks was a major problem, with trains passing several times an hour. The rooms also had no air conditioning, and there wasn't a cooling option in any of them. We booked two nights but left after the first, and don't expect we'd return. Check-in was unpleasant because our room hadn't been properly cleaned and sanitized, so we had to change rooms. I won't go into the details. The hotel offered a complimentary bottle of wine to make up for it, which we accepted. Dinner at the restaurant was underwhelming, and our waitress didn't seem enthusiastic or willing to make recommendations.
