The staff made us feel so welcome, and meals, especially breakfast, had a real community feel. Breakfast was included, and there was even a play corner with toys for the many children around. We had dinner there too, and they kindly switched the sausage for cheese horns with my schnitzel. The women working there were lovely, helpful, and accommodating. We loved our two nights. The room was clean, spacious, and homey, with a stunning view. Free parking was a plus, and there was another fridge on our floor for a few drinks. We’d happily return. One small suggestion: it would help to explain check-in in the booking details. There’s no usual reception or lobby, so arriving at 9pm was a little confusing. A kind lady greeted us and showed us to the room, which we appreciated. Great base for a Seealpsee hike, as we found out ourselves.

The church across the road rings every 15 minutes through the night, and the 6am bells are especially vigorous, so earplugs might be a good idea. Still, the host was welcoming, and the food was made from local produce. Our Doppelzimmer was spacious and had its own bathroom, which you can’t always count on in Gastuauses. It’s a handy spot for exploring Alpstein, close to the lift to Hoher Kasten and about a 10-minute drive from Wasserauen for the Seealpsee hike. In October, remember that the lifts stop running around 5pm.

A very convenient base for getting into the Swiss Alps, with the lift only a five-minute walk away. Best place in the area.

The WiFi was much better than at most places we’ve stayed, and we enjoyed the good food. The staff were really kind too. We had a great stay and would definitely come back.

Claudia was very helpful when I had an issue with my first room and moved me to another one. The evening meal was delicious, and breakfast was excellent. The gasthaus is under fine new management, in a wonderful spot in Brulisau with two nice lifts that take you into the mountains. Highly recommended.
