Hotel Spitzhorn

Hotel Spitzhorn was a fantastic stay, and we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff were genuinely warm, kind, and attentive, taking care of every detail and making us feel at home. The hotel has a cosy alpine feel mixed with modern comfort, and the thoughtfully designed spaces make it easy to relax. It’s also well placed, a short walk from the train station, with a convenient bus connection to Gstaad for exploring the Swiss Alps. Everything exceeded our expectations, from the service to the atmosphere. Whether you want a quiet break or a trip full of activities, Hotel Spitzhorn is an easy recommendation. We can’t wait to come back!

The location was perfect for getting to nearby attractions and amenities, and the room was nice and well kept. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Natalie at reception deserves a special mention for being especially welcoming and efficient. There were some downsides: we found an insect in the room, which was off-putting, and the space felt tighter than we expected. One person on the breakfast staff was also less accommodating. It was a mixed stay, with some good points and a few things that need work.

The rooms are beautiful, with lots of wood, and the food is excellent. There’s an indoor pool and sauna too. It may officially be rated three stars, but to me it feels closer to a four-star hotel. I’d recommend it to anyone!

We had a decent stay at this lovely-looking hotel. It has a modern feel with classic wood design, and the lounge is cosy, with a lovely wooden fireplace. The room was a good size, though oddly it had two single beds pushed together. Our private balcony was a bonus, and parking is free. Breakfast was okay, but croissants are only available on weekends. The location is convenient, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Saanen and a short drive to Gstaad, or a 30-minute walk. There are walking paths nearby too. The welcome at reception felt rather cool. We were handed our room cards without an offer to help with our luggage or an explanation or tour of the facilities. We arrived on a Saturday night, when the restaurant was very busy and the staff were rushing around. There seemed to be only one vegetarian dish, so it didn’t feel very accommodating for halal or vegetarian diners. The owner did come by later to ask whether we’d managed to arrange dinner, which was a nice gesture. Housekeeping was below average. The room and bathroom hadn’t been cleaned and made up to an acceptable standard. We asked for an iron, but it took so long to arrive that we decided to go out. When we got back, it wasn’t working and had leaked water onto the table where it had been left. We ended up using the housekeeping iron in the basement. It would have been more convenient to bring us a working one for the room. There was no tea in the room either. The hotel is good value and I’d recommend staying here. With a few small improvements, it could be an excellent choice in the Gstaad area.
