HUUS Gstaad

We spent a couple of nights at Huus Hotel to get away from the fog in the valley and catch some welcome sunshine. It was a lovely stay overall. The alpine-chic atmosphere starts with a warm, stylish lobby that opens straight into the bar, which feels like the social centre of the property. There was a DJ in the evenings. Some reviews said the music was too loud, but we found the volume reasonable, especially since the bar and reception share a space. The sushi was enjoyable and beautifully presented. The Itamae’s location added to the bar atmosphere too. Our room was quiet and comfortable, with a lovely mountain view. The grounds were a nice surprise, with walking paths that worked perfectly for our two small dogs. Breakfast was another highlight, a great buffet where nothing seemed to be missing. The service was a little inconsistent. For a hotel going for a five-star feel, staff attentiveness matters. We’re low-maintenance guests, but a couple of times when we asked simple questions, the front desk attendant seemed a bit put out. It didn’t overshadow the stay, though we noticed it. One thing to know: the hotel shuttle only covers arrival and departure trips to the train station. It isn’t a general shuttle, so you’ll need taxis to visit the Gstaad promenade. That area has great shops, food, and energy, but it’s not within walking distance of the hotel. Huus Hotel makes for a stylish alpine escape, with great views, excellent breakfast, and a lively lobby. More consistent guest-focused service would take it up another level.

The mountain-facing seats in the bar are a dream, and it was lively every time we were there. You can order from both the hotel menu and the sushi menu while sitting in the bar. The food was great. We especially loved the games room, with its pool tables and PlayStations, and that racing seat was a hit. There’s a kids activity every day, and the club runs until 6. Today’s pool party was buzzing, like a Wolf of Wall Street party for kids. The rooms are spacious and recently refurbished. Such a good place for families. I nearly kept it to myself, but it’s too good not to share.

The spa was clean, relaxing, and well looked after, just right for unwinding. Breakfast also had a great range of high-quality options. We stayed two nights at Gstaad Huus and had a really nice time. The hotel has a warm, pleasant feel, and the staff were especially kind and welcoming. They made the stay even better. Our room was comfortable, practical, and well equipped for relaxing after a day in Gstaad. We tried the bar restaurant. The food was good, though there’s room to improve: the poached eggs were hard-boiled, the club sandwich didn’t have enough chicken, and the bowl was a bit dry. We didn’t get to try “La Vue”. A lovely stay in a great setting, and we’d recommend it for a relaxing visit to Gstaad, with a little room to improve the dining.

We were traveling with an infant, and the staff made things so easy. They provided all the essentials we needed for our baby and had convenient in-house babysitting options. Our room was spotless, with some of the best views around, and breakfast was high quality. We also liked the lively bar, which stays open through the night. It’s a beautiful, exceptionally well-maintained hotel in Gstaad. The stay exceeded our expectations, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.
