One thing really stayed with me from my visit to Hotel des Alpes by Bruno Kernen: near reception, I heard a staff member being reprimanded and humiliated by their superiors in a very unprofessional way. It was sad to hear how they spoke to a team member. In a hotel with so much charm and such a good reputation with guests, it’s a shame the treatment of staff doesn’t reflect the same standard. A place’s quality also depends on the respect and support given to the people who make the guest experience possible. I hope this improves and that the hotel’s internal culture comes to match its other strengths. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, with rustic style and modern touches. Mountain views and a peaceful setting made the stay special, and the location was great for enjoying nature and switching off. The hotel felt welcoming and elegant, with clean, well-kept facilities and clear attention to guest comfort.

It’s hard to find an affordable place in this area that still delivers the full Swiss quality. Hotel Kernen has kept up a high standard in its food, service, comfort, and cozy feel, while remaining affordable. Bravo Bruno for managing that despite the competition and rising prices.

The afternoon coffee and cake in the salon were a really nice touch. The food was excellent, and dinner is definitely worth having. We also slept so well in the amazing bed. Best of all, though, were the very friendly, welcoming staff. A wonderful stay, and we’ll be back for sure.

We spent a long weekend as a couple at Hotel des Alpes in June 22. We’ve stayed in excellent hotels around the world, and this is the best three-star hotel we’ve ever experienced. It doesn’t have an indoor pool or gym, but it’s incredibly cozy, with a brilliant interior design. The rooms follow the same style and have everything you need, plus more than you’d expect at this level. The price is a little above the usual three-star rate, but clearly below four- or five-star hotels, and worth every penny. The team are friendly, the food is good, and breakfast is at least four-star quality. The spectacular golf course is only a few minutes away. We’ll definitely return.

We’ll definitely be back. This small boutique hotel has great rooms and staff, and the restaurant is one of the best in the Gstaad area. Young Brazilian Chef Joaquim Paes Leme runs it, with a menu mixing flavors from around the world. You’re in for a treat. Thanks, Chef Joaquim and everyone at Des Alpes Hotel!
