Gasthaus Paxmontana

The surroundings are beautiful, but after three nights in the guesthouse, I can't say this was worth the price. The room had no mirror apart from the small one in the bathroom, no TV, and the binoculars were broken, so we couldn't see anything through them. One bedside lamp didn't work, probably just a bulb that hadn't been replaced. There was no fridge in the room or anywhere else in the building for guests to use. A family member needs medication kept cold, and no other place we stayed in Switzerland denied us fridge access. The bathroom was an insult, so cramped that a taller person's legs wouldn't fit when sitting on the toilet. The guesthouse elevator only goes to the second floor, which could make the third floor hard to reach for anyone with mobility issues. At reception, the staff weren't friendly at all. In the breakfast room, the waiters ignored us when we spoke to each other in a language other than German, even though we understand German very well. We had to call a waitress over to order coffee or eggs, while Swiss guests were asked what they'd like as soon as they sat down. It felt very rude to treat Swiss guests better than foreigners. All in all, the service felt like what we've experienced at many places in Switzerland: very poor for the price, especially compared with what you can get in other European countries for the same or less money.
