For people who eat traditionally, this still seems like a good spot. If you have allergies or stick to a particular diet, though, it could get tricky. I’d enjoyed eating here on previous visits, but this time the staff seemed annoyed and were really unfriendly. The vegetarian option had sold out by the time we arrived, which is fair enough, but there was little else for plant-based diners. We asked to have the cheese left off our salad, and the waitress seemed to find that difficult. She brought it back with an egg on top instead. We’re easygoing and don’t need much, but it felt like she wasn’t willing to accommodate us. You can eat here even if you’re not a guest, too.

We spent a wonderfully relaxing night outside, looking up at the stars with the sheep nearby. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The lovely local food was a treat, and even the locally made gin was really good. The staff were so happy and friendly, and looked after all our needs. It had been a long time since I’d stayed somewhere with such cheerful people, and the whole experience re-energized me. If you’re stressed or feeling low and need to unwind, this is a lovely place. There was a wedding taking place that afternoon, and it looked like a perfect spot for one. I’d totally recommend booking and enjoying this happy little haven.

Access to Lake Constance is the one thing that needs work. People with severe disabilities can’t currently get to the lake. Even adding an entry point with two handrails would be a good first step, and a grooved, paved concrete path into the water, like the one in Konstanz, would be fantastic. We had a fantastic stay in the height of summer, and the people were extremely friendly. Everything was high quality.
