Continental Parkhotel

The hotel is charming, with modern, well-equipped rooms that still have the old-world feel of earlier decades. We really appreciated the excellent shower pressure. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and there's a lovely bar and restaurant on site that I wish we'd had time to visit. Its location is handy too, right across from the train station, with easy access to lakeside shops and cafes and the Lugano shopping area.

After the first night, I left the review below. On check-out day, while I was collecting my stored luggage to leave, the owner threatened me. He said he had my address and would come to my home to find me, used very inappropriate language, and claimed proudly to belong to a notorious group in the region. I felt unsafe and threatened, and have kept a record of the interaction in case the authorities need it. He kept saying he'd run the hotel for 30 years, owned the villa, and could do whatever he wanted. He said he wasn't afraid of anything. His behavior showed exactly what this hotel is like. It was an intolerable experience, and I won't delete this review. The hotel is right next to the train station, so I could hear trains passing all night, as well as people talking loudly by the bar. They have ten categories of common rooms, which only confused guests since some rooms are very small and noisy. Worse, the staff were rude and arrogant. After ignoring my request, reception said there was no manager available for the next few days to solve the problem, then mocked me, saying everyone at the hotel disliked me.

We found the breakfast excellent, clearly made with care, and the lake view from the breakfast room made it even nicer, even though we're not big breakfast eaters. On our 2025 visit we chose a lake-view room and got a stunning panorama. The nearby train made some noise, but earplugs can handle that. Lake-view and park-view rooms each have their own pros and cons. We've stayed at the Continental Park Hotel twice, in June 2022 and August 2025, and enjoyed both visits to this traditional, family-owned place. We often stay in chains and have nothing against them, but the warmth and spirit here reflect the owning family's care and dedication. They have luxury rooms, though most are simple, spotlessly clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully designed. We're already looking forward to visiting again before too long.

The hotel is very close to a busy, noisy train station, and there were night works going on there, so we marked the location down a bit. Still, we had a great two-night stay and really enjoyed the rooms, service, and happy hour. The reception team was exceptionally helpful, especially Roberta, who went out of her way to suggest things to do and see in Lugano.
