We only stayed one night, so didn’t get a chance to try the spa, restaurant, or the hotel’s other facilities. It’s a grand hotel in a great location, with an elegant, very spacious room that had everything we needed. Breakfast was good, served in a magnificent room that felt like a ballroom in a fairy tale. There’s free parking in front, though the spaces are very narrow. One thing to be aware of: the shower door has a gap at the bottom, so quite a bit of water gets onto the bathroom floor, which has no drain. It wasn’t a problem for our one-night stay, but could be a little inconvenient for longer visits.

The room was spacious, and free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The rates seemed competitive, but I probably wouldn’t return. Cleanliness needs attention: there were several hairs in the shower and dead insects left on the floor for days. Breakfast was below par for me, with too few choices and little variety. The hotel also seemed geared mainly toward guests from outside Switzerland, since most of the staff didn’t speak the local language.

After a hike, it was great to relax in the hotel spa, and our room was spacious, spotless, and had a jacuzzi in the bathroom. We also had a very good experience with customer service when we asked for an antiallergic quilt and pillows. This is a hotel with a long tradition and a very good location. Breakfast was delicious, with great service and a juicer available. Highly recommended.

This place seems to have been a gem once, with striking architecture, an impressive building, and a magnificent interior. Now, only little traces of that former luxury remain. The rooms and furnishings are in poor shape, look carelessly thrown together, and seem low quality. Rust and dirt are spreading, and the lift is deteriorating and needs restoration. Even its wallpaper is peeling off. The spa doesn’t open until 2:30 p.m. and closes at 8:00 p.m. Staff didn’t seem particularly well trained, and we didn’t feel the warm, welcoming service you’d expect from a luxury hotel. It’s sad to see the paint peeling and the property in this state. The owner should put money and care into it before the place is forgotten completely.

The views from Hotel Bernina were breathtaking, with the mountains looking like a real winter wonderland. We spent Christmas there, and the hotel felt cosy and charming, with beautiful seasonal decorations that made it feel festive. The staff made the biggest difference: everyone was warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and cared for. We can’t wait to return. Thanks, Hotel Bernina, for making our holiday so special!
