Vienna House By Wyndham Zur Bleiche Schaffhausen

The Wi-Fi was a bit slow, which was the only issue we ran into. Otherwise, the experience was very positive: the staff were courteous and focused on guests, and the food choices were excellent.

The dining was really nice, and everything was clean and well kept. The location is convenient for getting around, especially since the hotel serves as a pickup and drop-off point for international bus service. Restaurants, gift shops, entertainment, and more are all within walking distance. It was an extremely pleasant stay in a lovely area.

I ended up without a room at 8:00 pm, after paying 275€ already. With the hotel fully booked, it felt like they may have taken advantage of the situation and given the room to other guests, though I can't be sure. I booked through Booking with payment at the hotel, and the confirmed amount due on arrival was €132. At check-in they asked for €175 instead, without clearly explaining why. The next morning, another receptionist who spoke English admitted the amount was incorrect. He said the difference would come off the next night's charge, and I also paid €100 for what I understood to be another full night. That evening, staff said there had been a “misunderstanding”: the €100 was only to extend checkout until 8:00 pm, not for another night. I'm perfectly capable of understanding how a hotel booking works, and this was completely unacceptable, especially for a 4-star hotel.

Breakfast was a definite win, really delicious. The rooms were clean and very up to date, and the staff were lovely. There was some hair on the sheets. I don't know if it was left over after washing, but when I asked, he brought fresh sheets up right away without asking any questions.
