Hotel NewStar

We stayed for two nights in October 2025, a group of four in the apartment. It was very clean and spacious, with a walk-in wardrobe that gave us plenty of luggage space. The beds were set up for four adults before we arrived, which we really appreciated. The receptionist was excellent and friendly. I can’t remember her name, but she tried to fix the bathroom door in our first apartment and offered to hold our luggage while she arranged a move to another one. The reason for the move was that the first apartment’s sliding bathroom door wouldn’t close fully. Reception tried to repair it but couldn’t, and the door in the second apartment closed properly. That second bathroom was spacious and clean, though its doorless shower let water spill onto the floor outside. The kitchen was a disappointment because I’d booked specifically to use it. Although the apartment is advertised with a kitchen, the hotel provides no crockery or cookware, such as pots, pans, plates, or washing soap. The only cooking equipment was a microwave. I was told crockery wasn’t supplied for short stays and could be rented for an extra fee. The website does say the kitchen is “not equipped,” but I think that policy should change to improve the guest experience. I don’t understand it, since most people booking an apartment with a kitchen would expect basic crockery to be included in the stay. The hotel is out of town but easy to reach by public transport. A nearby bus stop goes directly to St Gallen city centre in about 15-20 minutes. There’s a shopping centre nearby with a supermarket and Ikea, plus free car parking at the hotel. We also got a St Gallen visitor card for free bus travel. The hotel itself was very clean and modern. Just note that the apartment kitchen doesn’t come with crockery.
