Hotel Porta Cervino

I was initially annoyed to learn that I'd been moved from the Hotel I booked, The Matterhorn Hotel, to this one as an upgrade. But it was only two minutes away, and everything was fine once I got there. The hotel is modern and stylish, and the rooms have a similar look with everything you need. Breakfast was very good, with enough choices for everybody. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area.

The hotel was good value, with an excellent breakfast, and the train made getting to Zermatt easy. The rooms were clean and well designed, the beds comfortable, and breakfast was surprisingly great. There were two issues. I got a WhatsApp message posing as the hotel and asking for my credit card details. It included my booking number, name, and stay dates, so I assumed it was a scam and deleted it. It seems guest information may be getting to scammers from the hotel, or may be intercepted somehow. Also, an alarm went off inside the hotel at 3am. It seems a door can be opened in a way that triggers it.

The location worked well for taking the train into Zermatt, where there are no vehicles. The country is beautiful, the staff were pleasant, and the rooms were nice, all done in wood that suits the region. Breakfast had a good range of options. Just be aware that parking costs extra. We stayed three nights and I think we paid CHF 50, which isn't too bad, but still.

The room was comfortable and really clean, and the staff made everything feel welcoming and easy. From checking in to checking out, they were friendly and happy to help. I had a great stay at Puerto Cervino and would come back, and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
