Walliserhof (ex Matterhorn Resort Walliserhof)

The staff made this stay especially welcoming. Everyone we met was kind and professional, and they took extra care to make us comfortable. Hotel Walliserhof is also an easy walk from the train station, close to what you need, and reasonably priced for what you get. I had a wonderful stay and would gladly come back.

The friendly staff and good location were the clear positives, though our towels weren't changed every time. The rooms were clean, but the decor and furnishings felt cheap: tiny tablet-sized TVs, no fridges, and flimsy plastic balcony chairs. Bathrooms were kept up, yet looked like something from a budget flat, and I'd expect more than a shower curtain. Breakfast was mostly cold, with cocoa and frozen bread toast as the only warm options. The ground floor, especially the lobby and breakfast area, had atmosphere, unlike the rooms. It was okay for a budget trip, but I don't understand the three stars. I left disappointed and gave it the same three stars.

A quiet, comfortable hotel with a slightly quirky feel. The staff were helpful and friendly, and all spoke English. It's only a few minutes from the railway station, with trains to Zermatt every 20 minutes.

The pool was out of service, apparently since winter 2022, which was a shame after a long hike. Otherwise, the staff were helpful and pleasant, breakfast was standard for a three-star place, and the clean room had the basic comforts without anything extravagant. It's at the end of the road, about a three-minute walk from Täsch train station.
