Charme Hotel Barbatè

The railway is very close to the hotel, just as the website and Maps show. We had a south-facing room away from it, but could still feel passing trains vibrating the room for about 5 seconds. It wasn't bad, but noticeable, so I take off one star. A small historic church steeple is nearby too, and during our stay there was apparently a service or something, with bells ringing for a while. If you want a guaranteed parking space, it costs 10 CHF/d, though the spot is right in front of the entrance. Even with those things to know, this is a very nice little hotel. The newly renovated rooms match the website photos, have a great view, and were spotless, as was the rest of the hotel. The owners and staff were professional, kind, pleasant, and friendly, and the owners' two dogs were lovely. The breakfast buffet was awesome for such a small family-run hotel: local cold cuts and cheese, 10 (!) open teas, local honey, juice, fresh fruit, and fresh birchermuesli. It's dog-friendly, and the owners have two dmall doggies. A blanket, water cup, and some goodies were waiting on arrival, which was very nice, though I hope dog owners bring their own equipment. Dogs can't join breakfast because it's a buffet, which I understand as a hygiene issue, especially with the small breakfast room. It's just good to know.

As a toddler in 1975, I walked into the ground-floor hotel room of German philosopher Hannah Arendt. I don't remember what we talked about, but it inspired me!

The room was nice, and the lady at reception was very helpful. Service was really friendly and breakfast was great. Thanks for a lovely stay, I hope to come back ☺️
