Hotel Weisses Kreuz

The owners of the property, Familie and Brit, were wonderfully friendly and knew a lot about the area and the hotel's history. They went out of their way to help us. The hotel is in charming Bergün, just a few minutes' walk from the train station, and has a quintessential Swiss ski chalet lobby. Breakfast in the morning is complimentary and nice. Our room was much nicer and better maintained than is typical for the region. I'd definitely stay again.

The meals were delicious, and the location is amazing. It's such a beautiful hotel, and staying here felt like being at home. One of the nicest places I've ever stayed. I love it here!

After sledding, we had a good meal at the restaurant. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the Wiener schnitzel was very tender, made with high-quality meat. Just keep in mind that lunch service ends when the kitchen closes at 2 pm.

The restaurant is excellent, with local favorites and familiar dishes from around the world, plus a huge wine list. During busy periods, booking a few days ahead is essential. Breakfast is practical rather than elaborate, but the items offered are high-quality and mostly sourced locally. The hotel itself is a welcome change in a region that doesn't need another luxury property: you get comfortable rooms and thoughtful hospitality at a modest price. The proprietor makes guests feel welcome quickly and keeps reception waits short, while the restaurant team is personable and attentive even when the place is busy. The rooms show their age, though everything works perfectly, and even the entry-level rooms are spacious. Soundproofing between rooms is good, but you can hear people talking in the corridor. Sleds, bikes, and skis can be stored free in a basement room reached by a narrow outside staircase.
